Why Certified Organic.....
There must be a good reason why consumer demand for certified organic products in Australia is growing at 25-30% annually.
The reason is because consumers are now appreciating the benefits of food which is grown without the use of synthetic fertilisers, chemicals and herbicides. Organic systems are not only good for the environment but organically produced foods are extremely healthy for our bodies.
At OlivFresh we use only natural fermentation or traditional processing techniques to process the olives. This way the natural goodness, nutrition and flavours are maintained.
It is important though that consumers appreciate that a lot of goods are being labelled "Organic" nowadays when they may not actually be that. The only way to be sure of a products true organic status is to look to ensure that it is marked " Certified Organic". Certified Organic means that a third party auditor has been to the production site and checked that every single step of the process meets the strict certified organic standards.
Growing and producing food products according to the Certified Organic Standard means that there are extra costs involved to produce the certified organic foods. This may be around 10 -15% more than conventionally produced foods and in large part this is reflected in the price of the products. These costs are well worth it and reflect the true cost of producing highly nutritious, healthy foods.
